“‘Family values’ has become ubiquitous in our culture and yet it has not received serious, thorough, and substantive analysis—until now. Seth Dowland has produced a smart, lively, and engaging book that makes important contributions to political, religious, and cultural history. This book should garner serious attention from a wide readership.”—Matthew Avery Sutton, author of American Apocalypse: A History of Modern Evangelicalism

With the rise of the 20th century Christian believers and evangelical leaders and conservative politicians have derived the agenda to transform the standards of the community by focusing on “family values”.  In the Philippines, given that we are a Christian nation has typically consider embracing the culture of keeping the objective subtle through considering the agenda to support homeschooling and using a strong military punishment among-st others.

Today, we live by the norms of society where we accept the morals depending on what is trending and famous among the modern approach of social media.  Facebook for example have molested the morals of society, specially the youth because of easy access to internet.  They can easily watch  sensual types of videos and pictures.  It is painful for parents to see their children controlling them because on what is seen and heard over viral videos and rants.  Day by day the number of teenage pregnancy have increased dramatically according to Department of Health and World Health Organization.

We have derived our own way how to create a healthy family values and lifestyle:

  1.  Create Family Values – following a family values can set a foundation towards families day to day living.  A good family values can create a feel secure towards your spouse and children.  Parents who have created this values can make a better rules when the children would have questions in life.
  2.  Encourage One another – “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”  1 Thessalonians 5:11.  We put a greater weight on this aspect specially when difficult time comes in the family.  When my father died few months ago, many of my family members have been there to help heal my broken heart.
  3.  Promote Learning – my wife and I both have corporate jobs before we got married and each of us were eager to increase our learning in actual and practical approach in raising our family.
